You’ll uncover the real meanings behind lawful, legal, jurisdiction, and due process—and see how they apply in real situations. You’ll learn the structure and function of courts—constitutional, judicial, legislative, and quasi—and the distinctions between civil, criminal, and administrative actions. In Week 4 we dive into traffic tickets as a real-world case study, from the first roadside interaction to pre-trial motions (demurrers, discovery, disqualification, and more). Week 5 takes you inside the trial process—how law and fact are handled, what qualifies as admissible evidence, and how to effectively engage with pre- and post-trial motions.
